Welcome to May I Rummy. By using the app, you agree to these terms. They are written in plain English on purpose — the goal is that you can actually read and understand them.
The short version: play nicely, don't try to break the game or cheat, and understand we cannot promise the service is bug-free or always available. The app is free and provided as-is.
1. The service
May I Rummy is a digital version of the card game "May I" (also called Contract Rummy). You can play single-player against the computer or multiplayer with friends in a private room. The app is free to use and contains no advertising or in-app purchases.
2. Your account
Single-player mode is suitable for all ages and requires no account. To play multiplayer or save games across devices, you sign in with a Google account.
- Multiplayer sign-in requires a Google account. Google itself sets the minimum age (typically 13, or 16 in the European Union); we cannot accept sign-ins from anyone who Google would not allow to have an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Cheat, automate, script, or use tools to gain an unfair advantage in multiplayer games.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other players.
- Reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute the app's code for purposes other than personal study.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to bypass our security controls (Firestore rules, App Check, authentication). Good-faith security research is welcome — see our security policy.
- Use the app to transmit malicious code or content.
- Create accounts in bulk or use the app for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
4. Multiplayer rooms
The "host" of a multiplayer room is the player who created it and runs the game's core logic on their device.
- The host can kick players who are unresponsive or abusive. Kicks are logged.
- If the host disconnects, the room may end. Other players will be returned to the main screen.
- You should only share a room's 4-letter code with people you intend to play with. Anyone with the code can join the room.
5. User content
The app does not let you upload text, images, audio, or any user content beyond your display name and game moves. You retain ownership of your display name (which comes from your Google account). By using it in the app, you grant us the limited right to display it to other players in rooms you have joined.
6. Intellectual property
The app, its code, artwork, and brand are owned by the developer. You may not copy or redistribute them except as permitted by applicable law (e.g., personal study, fair use).
7. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep it working and fair, but we cannot promise that:
- It will always be available, error-free, or bug-free.
- Multiplayer games will always be free of network glitches.
- Saved game state will never be lost.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app.
Since the app is free and we never charge you anything, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months — which is zero.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, particularly the acceptable use rules in section 3.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced inside the app the next time you open it. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction whose laws provide you with rights that cannot be excluded by contract, those rights still apply.
